July 2020 Info

Updated: Nov 7, 2020

Monthly infos are posts to see all my reading plans in one place. These will be the first post of every month. Due to the length of the information covered, only a brief synopsis will be given. However, each book title is a link to that book's Goodreads page. In every monthly info, you will find my TBR, BOTM pick, readathons/events, books on my radar, and some blog posts you can expect in the coming month!

TBR

Survivor Song by Paul Tremblay

The world has been infected by a disease driving everyone insane. Hospitals are at capacity, therefore causing everyone to quarantine. However Natalie, who is eight months pregnant and infected with the disease, is left to fend for herself when her husband is killed in a brutal encounter with an infected neighbor. Natalie's clock is ticking, forcing her to embark on a journey through the increasinglyhostile environment in order to survive.

Book of the Month

Book of the Month is a book subscription where the club picks 5 new release titles and you can pick one to get sent to you. If you aren't into any of the picks, you can skip with no penalty. If you want to try it for yourself you can use my referral code. (This post is not sponsored in any way. The code is just from having a BOTM account.)

This month I chose two books: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet.

Mexican Gothic is a horror story about Noemí Toboada that takes place in a creepy setting called High Place. There she must save her cousin from a mysterious doom. The Vanishing Half is about two black sisters and each of their lives, as one chooses to pass as white and one decides to embrace her black identity. This story is told over a span of 40 years and follows both the two sisters and also their daughters.

Readathons/Bookish Events

This month I will be participating in the Reading Rush, hosted every year by Ariel Bissett and Raeleen Lemay. This year it starts on the 20th and ends on the 26th. My TBR will be posted closer to the date. Other than the RR I am not participating in any other event.

Books on My Radar

Some new releases on my radar this month include:

Some Posts Coming Soon

This month some of the things you can look out for are a full review of The Vanishing Half and The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse. One of the nature articles this month will be about a great nonprofit organization called Kids Saving the Rainforest located in Costa Rica. You can also expect a discussion type post about YA vs Adult thrillers discussing all the differences and similarities between the two types of books. Of course there will be more but those are some of the posts you will find this month.
